Pastors and ‘Gombo’

Do we still have religious models in Cameroon?  Well it might be a simple question for most Church goers, but difficult for those who have had to organise occasions like marriages in church… Most pastors in our churches have become traders…Apart from insisting that no Christian should offer a yellow coin as offering, they have now made official ceremonies in church like marriage and baptism money-making events. How can one imagine that in a renowned church in Limbe, a couple was almost frustrated by a certain Pastor when they requested his services for their marriage…According to the Pastor, the couple must give him an envelop of CFA 50.000, provide his own share of the food in a flask, two bottles of wine and whisky (not any type of drinks). In addition to these, is another envelop of CFA 5000 for each of the five elders who will assist him during the celebration…Does this type of attitude encourage or discourage Christians who wish to get married?Cameroon Tribune

  1. Some pastors need to repent and become real christians. However I think there are a few pastors who still give us a reason to believe in the church.

If his/her (pastor) followers FEEL the is something wrong in that, then they should stand up against it. Otherwise they accept and the pastor is not to be blamed

  3. Canada Kene Muna from Ontario, Canada says:

This is very wrong and just like the writer is protecting the identity of the church, Pastor and Elders. Some of us have the bad habit of defending whatever the men of God do. It shows how moral degraded the writer, Elders, Pastors and me are.

christian must stand this kind of attitude, together and say no.some pastors are not believer and also some fellows neither too: church business and nothing else

it’s a very disheartening to hear that these things are happening in our beloved fatherland. If the ’suppose models of the society’ are behaving like this, when will vices that have drag the name of our country into mud ever be washed. Something has to be done. wake up Cameroonians

  6. China Roland from Guangdong, China says:

This is no news, I mean it’s some kind of hoax. If the “anonymous preacher” did ask for an envelope of 50,000frs, then the writer of this article received an envelope of 100,000frs from the ghost Preacher not to reveal his identity. No authentic image even to convince some readers with your news headlines, no clues for people to verify / confirm your source .Do your job with passion writer

Mr Writer, you the press men and women are the greatest obstacle to change in our dear fatherland. can you tell us why you saw a thing which estimate that is wrong, and you still keep the names of both the pastor and the church hidden.
see, we all need to change the country. be the change you need.
