Two Cameroonians appointed for the management of UBA Cameroon

Business in Cameroon | On March 1, 2018, following a reorganization of the management of UBA’s subsidiaries, the bank’s top management appointed Richard Dominique Mahend as the managing director of UBA Cameroon.

He replaces Isong Udom who becomes the managing director of UBA Ghana. Formerly, the new managing director of UBA Cameroon was the executive director of business development.

In the same wake, another Cameroonian, Marguerite Fonkwen Atanga, was appointed as the subsidiary’s deputy managing director. Till now, she was the manager of retail & transaction banking.

This is the first time that Cameroonians are appointed as the managing director and deputy managing director of UBA Cameroon. The two Cameroonians are now in charge of the management of one of UBA’s subsidiary rated as “financially stable” by Fitch Ratings in a recent report.

With 16 years of experience in the banking sector, in treasury management especially, Richard Dominique Mahend joined UBA Cameroon in 2008 as the chief treasury officer within CEMAC.

Before that, the former student of Buéa University worked for Citibank and Ecobank Cameroon, two banks he served after an intensive training at the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Côte d’Ivoire.
