Bomb Wounds 11 University Students in Cameroon

YAOUNDE, CAMEROON — VOA | A homemade bomb thrown through the roof of a university lecture hall wounded 11 students on Wednesday, the vice chancellor said, in an English-speaking region of Cameroon in the grip of a bloody separatist conflict.

University of Buea vice-chancellor Horace Ngomo Manga said “the device fell to the ground and exploded.”

One boy and 10 girls were wounded, he told state radio CRTV, adding that all were in a stable condition.

He did not elaborate on the nature of the bomb or who might have thrown it.

Buea is the capital of Cameroon’s Southwest region. Both the Southwest and Northwest regions are mainly English-speaking in the otherwise predominantly French-speaking central African country.

A decades-long campaign by militants to redress perceived discrimination at the hands of the francophone majority flared into a declaration of independence on October 1, 2017, sparking a crackdown by security forces.

The conflict has claimed more than 3,500 lives and forced 700,000 people to flee their homes, according to NGO estimates that have not been updated in more than a year despite an escalation in violence in recent months.

The United Nations and international organizations regularly denounce abuses and crimes committed against civilians by both sides.

Wednesday’s bombing has not been claimed, but the anglophone separatists have regularly attacked schools and universities that they accuse of favoring French-language education.

The separatists have also recently ramped up attacks on the country’s armed forces using improvised explosive devices.

In September, a Buea court sentenced four men to death over the killing of seven schoolchildren a year earlier, however Human Rights Watch called the trial a sham.

  1. experience round the world has proved that all this is self destruction, and will lead to absolutely nothing.war today is economic, industrial not with the gun. Defense systems are build today for desuation and most important protecting what has been achieved economically.this conflict shows that our àleads do not take time to read the world in oder to know how to oriented the future. I doubt if those supporting this conflict from the diaspora read five books a year. Not to talk of books charting world geographic, economic and political control.if it was the case they will be less fanatical and naive like they are. No calm thoughtful calculated thinking process guided by rationality.only fanatical declarations, we shall prevail.when asked how? They respond you are a sardine eater.

LRC has become very desperate. They have realised that they can NEVER EVER defeat the BOYSES IN THE BUSHES. That is the reason they have now bombing taxis and UB.

There is only one sustainable solution to the Anglophone Question:

TOTAL and COMPLETE SEPARATION from LRC

The INFORMAL VIVRE-ENSEMBLE has collpsed BEYOND REPAIRS.

BYE-BYE LRC, BAKASSI OIL HERE WE COME!!!!!

  3. POPO MUST GO,,,, so the solution was to encourage culturally uprooted youths to take up arms against a structured well armed military system? did you take time to carefully think about what younde’s reaction will be? The reactionary emotional non reflective nature of your opinion shows that you think about nothing and so you can’t even anticipate the consequences of your own actions.if it is a linguistic and administrative problem. It is sensible for us to simply adopt KISWAHILI widely used in East Africa since it is an African language.the fact you think there is an invisible BIENG who you can cover your eyes saying few words and something actually affect me is evidence of your irrational mindset.there is nothing like god, not to say he posses super natural power to harm me.

  4. What exactly, will ever prick cameroonians to rise against Biya, with all the bad news
from that country? When Biya leaves by death tomorrow, that will be when condemnations
will follow, even from those feeding fat today from his recklessness.
Instead of meeting in Canada to look for international support to drive this fool out of
office, devils go there to feed fat from coruption money from Dion Ngute`s office. What a
    shamefull act, the CHURCH inclussive.

    • I hear Cameroom, has the press and over 300 political parties. What is their
use, if they can not come out strong, to denounce Biya`s bad governance
even at a time and circumstance like this? How on earth, has Biya automatically
become GOD? A president, should put his people first, not the opposite,
Cameroonians. Are you not fools? The frogs are not concerned today, but the
      future awaits them.

  5. @BAH ACHO When Yaounde declared war on the boyses in the bushes, did they thought about what the reaction of the boyses in the bushes would be? Thay declared war against a well coordinated guerilla fighters and think that they would win? The Cameroon Economy is on live support. They live on funds money left and right. Are u sure Yaounde will be able to contain this well coordinated guerilla figters in the next 5 years?
Away from that, tell me:When do u intend to impose Kiswahili in our courts and schools? just look at vietnam,India,Indonesia.Thay have all gone far. What do u think?

  7. KONGOSSA,,,,, from the action and reaction of younde, we can say without possibility of doubt that they actually thought about this UPTION and were prepared for it. let’s not forget that the leader of ambazonia who was resident in America was tricked brought to Nigeria and captured. He is now in the hands of younde.they knew very well that in case of conflict they will win once ambazonian supply roads are cut from Nigeria. This is exactly what is unfolding in our eyes and ambazonian have no chance of victory. They are one hundred percent sure of final victory.since this conflict started we have been reading from diasporan fanatics that the economy will crumble and younde will give up.but this is totally irrational because one oil blog sold is five hundred million dollars least.

  8. are u sure Yaounde will be able to contain this well coordinated guerilla figters in the next 5 years?they just need to sell one oil blog in the North where patrol was recently located and resources necessary to sustain the conflict for ten years is available. If you don’t take time to study the force and weaknesses of your adversary.then you are blindly engaged in a lost battle.to make Kiswahili common language a workable realistic approach is making it language of instruction from primary school. This demands huge deployment of resources to computerise the language in order to make translation of books possible. Since I have upted for the writing system used in Ethiopia today.the reason being that it will enable us to preserve our authentic civilization like Japan.it will take time.

  9. I will start from my own area and then spread gradually swallowing others. this is why the system has to be modern and appealing attracting more people.instead of children carrying books to school. We will give them tablettes with all books already translated in it.we are not going to use the books that our angloxazon àleads were brainwashed with. We are going to use books written by us and those we chose from outside to be translated like the god delution by rechard Dawkins, and kaisha the Japanese cooperation by James abbeglen, and African geo strategy by POUGALA.in oder for this strategy to work with my team we will need to control the economy especially manufacturing. with the economy in our hands we shall dictate what language, spirituality and organization system will be used.
