Cameroon plans to carry out most of its public procurement contracts via the E-platform by 2023

Investir au Cameroun | Cameroon intends to carry out most of its public procurement processes digitally, via the Cameroon Online E-procurement platform, by 2023. This was revealed on September 8, 2020, during a workshop organized by the Ministry of Public Procurement in Yaoundé.

Developed thanks to the financial support from South Korea (in the framework of a project being implemented since 2014), the said platform is not only aimed at speeding up public procurement processes but also reducing physical contacts between actors to curb corruption.

However, many government agencies are yet to adopt this platform. “Some of the project owners have not yet obtained the tools required to operate the platform. Also, some actors still resist the change,” explained Ibrahim Talba Malla, Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Public Contracts. For instance, in the first six months of 2020, only 16 public contracts were awarded via the platform, official sources revealed.

  1. “For instance, in the first six months of 2020, only 16 public contracts were awarded via the platform, official sources revealed”, this is laughable given that corruption is an integral part of Cameroon procurement system with a good on the paper procurement laws that can never be enforced. Few developed Countries have excellent e-procurement systems and a shithole country like Cameroon would never have an e-procurement system that functions on merit even in 2035 when the Biya system is supposed to have achieved its emergence economic dream of a developed country!

  2. Cameroon is not a s***hole country and the person who first referred to some African countries to being that way is making an excellent job in turning his country into a first class one .
Corruption is an acceptance on both sides of false entitlement. On the one hand there’s the prat who pays out through laziness and lack of perseverance and on the other the ludicrous assumption that the tax payer should pay extra for something or service , he or she ,is,entitled or worse not ,to.
Thats why corruption is illegal .
16 contracts this way is good and a step in the right direction and why not !
Sometimes when corruption is used as a reason not to do buisness ,it’s because they don’t want anyone new making it there ,instead of them.
