CAMEROONONLINE.ORG | Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses have earned major recognition following an impressive showing at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with four players selected in the tournament’s Best XI.
Goalkeeper Michaely Bihina, defender Myriam Nyadjou, midfielder Monique Ngock and forward Marie Ngah Manga all made CAF’s official Team of the Tournament. Cameroon had more representatives than any other country in the 11-player selection.
Ngock was also crowned Best Player of the Tournament, while Bihina received the Best Goalkeeper award. Nineteen-year-old Nyadjou was named Best Young Player, further highlighting Cameroon’s strong individual performances during the competition. Coach Valentine Nguele completed the country’s impressive awards haul by being named Coach of the Tournament.
The CAF selection, arranged in a 4-3-3 formation, also includes standout players from Morocco, Algeria, Malawi and Zambia, including Temwa Chawinga, Tabitha Chawinga and Barbra Banda. Temwa Chawinga finished as the competition’s leading scorer with five goals and two assists.
For Cameroon, the recognition underlines a memorable tournament and offers another sign of the growing strength and depth of the country’s women’s football.
