Newcastle join race to sign former Tottenham forward Clinton N’Jie on loan from Marseille

  • Marseille forward N’Jie is available on loan with view to a permanent deal
  • He was set to join Sporting CP on loan last summer but the move collapsed
  • Newcastle have also been linked with a sensational swoop for Mario Balotelli

Daily Mail | Newcastle United have asked about Marseille forward Clinton N’Jie.

The former Tottenham forward is available on loan with view to a permanent deal but also has interest from Burnley, Cardiff and Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old was set to join Sporting CP on loan last summer but the move collapsed after the clubs failed to agree terms.

The Cameroon international forward enjoyed two productive seasons after joining from Spurs but he has started only four games this season.

Newcastle have also been linked with a sensational swoop for Mario Balotelli.

The striker could be set for a sensational return to the Premier League, with Newcastle reportedly ready to take a gamble on the enigmatic forward in order to aid their battle against relegation.

Balotelli has been linked with a move since recent comments from Nice club president Jean-Pierre Rivere , who outlined the likelihood of the forward departing the club.

The Italy international is unlikely to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 side, paving the way for yet another move in what is becoming a nomadic career.

  1. Clinton is a case of career mismanagement or, so far, misfortune of a GOOD (perhaps, even an excellent) player. Initial reticence for readily embracing his transfer from Tottenham to Olym. Marseille made him less favored by R. Garcia, even during spans when he surpassed the likes of Thauvin, Germain, etc. in goal-scoring. Perhaps such hardship at both said teams has contributed to his seemingly recurring extra-football issues?

Nonetheless, at 25 yrs. old, Clinton has kept his attacking speed and remains a ‘young striker’ who can certainly shine if fully TRUSTED within a congenial team by the coach. Oh, how many of us LI fans dream of an effective and deadly attack by Abou, Toko, and Clinton with Chopou organizing the game at #10, and feeding them the ball!

    Good luck to you, brother!
